Loose Parts & Contemporary Arts
Art has never looked so funky!
This week mixes conservation and contemporary art, specifically sculpture. The campers will use a different material each day (plastic, trash, food, loose parts etc.) To create different sculptures. This is a wacky week that promotes changing your perspective on what is art and free exposition. Sometimes children will work as one large group, in small groups, or individually to make their masterpieces. At the end of the week we will host an art show during the camp day, giving families who are able, the opportunity to see their young artist strut their stuff and show off their creation while discussing their motivations behind their art work.
Who should sign up for this week?
This is a great week for artistic souls who don’t like to stay inside the lines. Artistic campers who enjoy conservation and sculpting will really enjoy this week. Older campers will focus on technique and learning about professional sculptures, their process, and what inspires them. Younger campers will focus more on the collection of materials and how to build a sculpture using found objects as well as legos and blocks.
Full time campers should bring a water bottle, snack and lunch. Half time campers need a water bottle and snack. Please bring a pair of sneakers for running games and hikes. We spend the day making messy art projects and science experiments, as well as playing games outdoors – it is important to send your child with clothes that can get dirty and wet!
